Visa stamping in Vancouver
Hello -- I wanted to share my experience here in case anyone finds it useful. I apologize for the length of the post. I made the decision to get my H1B stamped in Vancouver this time around instead of traveling back to India. I have been with my company for 7 years now. I made my appointment very early (early June) and ended up getting a date that worked for me (Sept 7)

Then I got my Canadian tourist visa
I ended up getting a 5 year multiple entry visa to Canada.

Docs I took with me.
DS 160 copy
2x2 passport photo
Passport
Original i797+ copies.
Pay stubs/bank statements
Employment Verification letter

I traveled on 9/6 and stayed at Pinnacle Harborfront (3 minute walk from the hotel to the embassy). It is a bit pricey but nothing can beat the short walk to the embassy. I scoped out the embassy the evening before. my appt. was at 9:15 and the security folks asked me to come 15 mins prior to my interview.

Friday, Sept 7:
I was at the embassy at 9 the next morning and the people there asked me for my DS 160, passport and ORIGINAL i797. Websites online say a copy will do, so did the lawyers from my company, but please take your original, since this is what they will ask for. Then they take all your electronics and give you a locker key and you go inside. You're first taken through security and into a first room. There they asked for the photo, passport and docs. You then give fingerprints and go to the 20th floor where you meet with the visa officer. Questions asked:
1 - Where do you work?
2 - Describe your job
Your visa is approved. It will be ready in 3-5 days.

I moved to Richmond on Saturday and moved my delivery address to the Richmond post office.

10th September, Monday
Got an email that Canada post has picked up a shipment from the consulate at 9:25am

11th September, Tuesday
Email received that passport was at the post office. I picked it up at 11am and booked my return flight for 2pm.

In retrospect, the only thing I would have done differently is not have booked my appointment on a Friday since nothing happens on Saturday/Sunday. I unnecessarily freaked myself out over those two days thinking the worst would happen and I would be stuck for 2 weeks. Hope this helps.
