“ Your ready to be schedule for an interview”- July 25,2018
“Interview Schedule”- Aug 15,2018
Interview Notice received: Aug 20, 2018
Interview: Sept 24, 2018
I prepared my documents myself, No RFE. Didn’t do the medical until I got the text that my interview was scheduled. For my initial package as evidence I submitted marriage certificate, Scanned photos on letter size paper (10), a letter from our bank saying we have a joint account (Opened a month before we got married so we didn’t get any statements yet to submit), joint health insurance, copy of month to month lease.
Interview was in St Albans Vermont. I live in upstate NY but that’s where my field office was. It was a 3hr and 10 mins drive. Got there at 9am, went inside at 9:45am, interview was scheduled for 10:30am. After handing in my notice at the window we waited around 20 mins before we were called back to the window. IO asked for my passport, medical and my husbands ID. He also took our photo album also. He took my finger print and photo at the window also. Never read anything like this before, where these things happen in the waiting area. Another couple was there and they were called straight inside. Anyways, after another 10 mins IO called my name. I asked if my husband should come as well, he said no. Took me to the office, swore me in. Asked all question on i-485, plus the following:
How we met? When? If I have siblings, their names? If my husband have siblings, their names? What I studied and where? If I met my husband parents? No just video chat. If we took any trips lately?
He then took me back to the lobby and called my husband and asked him all questions on his i-130, plus all the additional questions he asked me. That lasted like 2 mins. He then came back and got me. As I sat down he handed me the approval letter. He didn’t look at the additional evidence we brought. I felt I was approved before, that paper I receive was printed in advance because he didn’t print it infront of me or my husband and from he called me in the interview, there wasn’t a point where he wasn’t with one of us. Also the paper had everything typed, not like a generic letter…it had my full name and address. I also received the notice of when to take off the conditions of GC. Over all the day and experience was pretty simple. I wish everyone a similar experience… Any questions I will answer
