Did not use a lawyer but this is my second filing so have experience from my mistakes the first time. However, I used avvo.com where I listed every document in my application package and asked immigration lawyers to comment on whether they thought my documents were ok to submit and I got a great response.

Also, I did not respond to the expedite request for additional information because I did not have a job offer but I thought that the expedite request will draw their attention to the fact that my I-131 was approved so that will make them approve the I-765 quicker. I honestly don’t know if that worked or not but… I just tried it.

A little more about my immigration journey.

I got married Jan 2017 while still on F1, filed in May 2017 and went for biometrics but got RFE in June because affidavit of support was filed incorrectly. Unfortunately, my sponsor had tax issues I was not aware of and they could not rectify it. My case was eventually. My F1 visa expired July 2017 so I was out of status at some point but I’m back in status now so doesn’t matter.

Then I re-applied in April and that’s where my story from above continues.
My advice is that as long as you filed your documents correctly, just hang in there and your day will come.

If there’s any questions please ask.
