Interview Experience:
Our appointment was at 7:45am in the morning. We went there without our lawyer. We walked into the USCIS field office in San Francisco around 7:30am. We went to the second floor, checked in window A and B, where they verified our interview notice, took picture and fingerprints and our Id’s. We were asked to wait in front of door D. We waited for about 20 mins. Around 8am, one of the immigration officer came out, called our name and walked us into her office room. We

She was very nice and friendly. She did the oath and went ahead with the interview. She also had a new immigration officer in training watching our interview. She went through some of the questions from I485 forms. Because mine was employment based, I was asked some questions about my job profile, company, how I got hired, how many rounds of interview I had before I got the job, education history, US residence. I did masters in the US, she asked me details on that too and made notes. My interview was around 40 mins and then the officer moved onto my wife. My wife was asked about our marriage, how we met, when and where the wedding was etc. All the questions we got asked were common and straightforward and we didn’t have any issues answering them.

In terms of documents, she verified our passports, EAD cards and driver’s license. She asked for copies of the following documents:
2 months bank statements (I gave them a joint bank account statement)
Last 2 years tax return copies
2 months’ pay stub
Health insurance card for me and my wife.
Marriage certificate. (Interestingly she didn’t ask for a single picture to see or asked for copy. We had about 20-30 pics).
At the end of it, she mentioned that she had everything she needs from us. She said she will review our case for the next 2 weeks and if she needs anything, she will be notified by mail. She gave us a letter which said our case is held for further review. We thanked her for her time and we were escorted out to the lobby. The following week Monday (first business day after our interview), our application was approved, and we got our card in hand yesterday on Nov 6th, 2018.

I wish you all good luck 😊.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
