I appeared for AOS Interview at USCIS, Irving, TX office along with my family.

We reached at 9am for 10am interview and we were escorted in at 930am.

Officer asked us to sign a waiver document stating that we are giving this interview without lawyer. It began with taking oath and the interview lasted about 40min and covered

1. Verification of details for all family members – Name, DoB, SSN, Address
2. My role with my employer
3. Officer covered around 20 of those 80+ Yes/ No questions together for My self and my wife
4. My wife was asked questions on Marriage date, location, education and kids
5. In the end Officer asked for
a. Employment proof – I gave Employment Verification Letter and last 6 salary slips
b. Medicals (latest ones) – I had submitted in Dec 2017, but per my lawyer advise, i got it re-done. The officer mentioned previous one expires in 1yr and is not aligned to latest tests asks from USCIS. Officer said had I not submitted the same, she would have asked me to get back new medical documents in next few days and smiled.

6. In the end she herself told us
a. India priority date is June 2016 and my priority date is Oct 2017
b. She will be sending us a letter by next week which would say “that dates are not current and my files are being moved to Nebraska center”
c. She said once dates are current, someone in Nebraska will pull the file out and proceed with next steps

Learnings, which other candidates can leverage
1. Get medicals done if the last one was done more than 1yr ago. It means spending more money, but its worth it as it saves on additional documentation request/ RFE

a. SSN, EAD, Passport
b. Birth certificates
c. Marriage certificates
d. Education docs

h. Documents for kids
