AOS - EB2 | Cross Charging
We started our I485 AOS process in Feb 2018 and got the Green card in November 2018. So approx 9 months was the total processing time.

Our petition was employment based EB2 but since my wife was born in Saudi Arabia, we leveraged the Cross Chargeability provision.

Our AOS Timeline is as below.

Feb 22, 2018 | Received I-485 I-765 and I-131 Receipts from USCIS
Feb 26, 2018 | Received advance parole EAD approval notice
May 03, 2018 | Received Transfer Notice from USCIS
Jun 19, 2018 | Received Fingerprint Notification
Jun 28, 2018, | Gave the biometrics (Both my wife & I, had the same date in the appointment)
Jul 19, 2018 | Received I-485 Interview Notice
Aug 13, 2018, | Appeared for the interview at local USCIS office (Raleigh)
Nov 08, 2018 | Case status changed to "Card is being produced" & "Case is Approved"
Nov 13, 2018 | Received Approval Notices by mail.
Nov 14, 2018 | Case Status changed to "We mailed your new card"
Nov 16, 2018 | Received both our cards valid for 10 years.

Interview Experience | Aug 13, 2018:

We made sure we drove to the uscis office one day before so that we were sure about the location.

Our Interview was scheduled for 9:15 am. My wife and I got separate notices but had the same time of interview.

We walked in by 8:30 and went through the security scanning and was asked to wait until 9:00 am to get a token.
At 9:00 we were called to get a token from the receptionist and were asked to move to the second floor waiting area.
we waited for about an hour and an officer finally called us in and took us to his office.
He started by making us take the oath. Then asked us for ID cards and it looked like he was going to get copies when we told him we already
have copies of the cards and so he took it from us.

He asked me my country of birth for which I answered India and then my wife hers, for which she answered Saudi Arabia.
He asked if we had our original marriage certificate and verified it with the copy he had in the file.
He then asked if my wife had her birth certificate as only the copies were filed. She showed him the original certificate she had and he verified with the copies he had in his file and the translation.
He asked if we had brought the sealed medical exam result/I693 and we gave it to him.

He then said the petition is EB2/employment based as I am the primary applicant and that the priority date for Indian born applicants is backlogged.
We told him we are leveraging the Cross chargeability provision which makes our petition fall under 'Rest of the World' category based on my wife's country of birth.
Fortunately, we had a print out with details of the same from the USCIS website which we presented.
The officer took a long time reading it and was silent throughout.

He then left us in the room for over 10 minutes and came back and started searching for something in his system.
He was silent for a long time and then said, sorry we don't have visas available due to retrogression and as of the latest visa bulletin, priority date for EB2 ROW was moved to an older date.

He told us that we would have to wait until the next fiscal year starting in Oct 2018 and new visa bulletin which would have the dates come back to Current.

We actually left the room confused and did not know what to expect next.
For the next two months, we had no updates and the case was stuck on status "Interview was Scheduled"
On Nov 8, 2018, finally, our case status changed to "Card is being produced" & "Case is Approved". Exactly one week later we received the card by mail.

The experiences shared in this forum had helped us a lot in preparing for the interview and we hope our experience would be of help too for especially folks looking for cross charging experiences.
