Expediting the visa stamping at NYC-VAC
I had applied for a work permit and I got the original passport request on 20th November. My passport was received by new york office on 28th November. I have to leave the US on 14th of December as my J-1 here in the US ending. I authorized and send a friend of mine to request the VAC to expedite my application. They said there is nothing they can do to help and gave a timeline of 3-4 weeks from the day passport was received here. This seems contrary to the experience of some of the other members who were able to expedite the process by going to the VAC.
I was wondering if you people have any thoughts on what my options are here.
Does anyone know if I can extend the 30 day deadline on the original passport request ? If it can be done, then I am thinking of getting my passport back from the VAC and sending it again after I come back from my travel. I have a valid B1/B2 and I can come back to the US after my travel around mid/late jan. Any thoughts / info would be really appreciated.
