Hello, everyone! I would like to share my I-765 (category: C09, I-485 based on EB2 NIW) experience in case that is helpful for some of you.
July 10, 2018: Case received by USCIS National Benefit Center
August 7, 2018: Biometrics completed
The case status was stuck at this point for almost six months. After my case was outside normal processing time, I raised a service request in the first week of January, and I was notified that I would get a response in 30 days. That was not helpful at all since my STEM OPT EAD was expiring on February 15, 2019. I contacted the office of my local congresswoman. They were extremely helpful submitting an Expedite Request on my behalf on the basis of "severe financial loss to company." As a supporting document, my employer wrote a letter (addressed to USCIS), describing how the termination of my job would hurt the company financially, and also requesting to expedite my case. This letter was my ONLY supporting document. I sent the letter to the office of congresswoman, and I believe that it was included in the expedite request that they submitted to USCIS. I don't know exactly when the staff from congresswoman's office submitted the request, but it was sometime during the week before last (Jan 14-18).
January 23, 2019: Case status was updated to "New Card Is Being Produced"
January 25, 2019: Card mailed (with USPS tracking)
My two cents: Expedite Request via your Congress representative does work, especially when your application is outside normal processing time and your current EAD is about to expire. For those who do not know, the representatives can be found here:
