NYC Experience
Good evening lovely people,

Here is my experience:

B1/B2 visa - Married to USC

Field Office: Manhattan.
P.D.: First week June 2017.
Biometrics appointment: July 2017.
RFE Received: July 2017 (We sent the response within a week).
Ready to be scheduled for interview: September 2017.
EAD Received: November 2017.
Long wait...
Submitted EAD Renewal: October 2018.
Interview Scheduled: First week December 2018.
Interview notice received: 11 days after status changed. (They sent the notice to our previous address, even though we updated our address for each one of our pending cases and received confirmation of the change from USCIS. VERY IMPORTANT: If you move, change your address through USPS too and subscribe to mail forwarding because we wouldn't have received the interview letter otherwise.)
Interview Date: Third week January 2019, NYC Federal Plaza.
New Card Being Produced (DHS website only): Next day after interview (I-130 still said Case Received).
Approval Letters for I-485 and I-130 Received by mail: 4 days after interview (I-130 changed online to Case Approved).
Card Was Mailed to Me: 5 days after interview.
USPS Tracking Number: 6 days after interview (USPS Informed Delivery also showed the tracking information).
10 Years Green Card in hand: 1 week and 1 day after interview. (They left the package in our mailbox, we didn't have to sign anything).

Our interview was very simple, we arrived 30 minutes earlier, passed through security, checked in using the appointment letter and sat in the waiting room. They called our number 20ish minutes later.

We were not separated. The officer sworn us in and asked for our IDs, We handed passports, EAD and DL. (She didn't take my fingerprints or picture.)

Then she asked for joint documents, specifically pictures. We handed her albums with pictures telling the story of our relationship, since we started dating, wedding and after marriage. She went through all of them, smiling. We were together for years before we got married, and married for more than 2 years. She kept some of the pictures and then asked if we brought more joint documents that we'd like to give to her.

We handed her our joint lease, joint tax returns for 2017, bill at my name showing same address, bill at my spouse's name showing same address, joint insurance, joint bank account, joint Costco Membership, Notarized Affidavit Of Residence for our previous address because we didn't have a lease back then, wedding invitation, employment letter and pay stubs. She said it was enough, and then proceeded to ask some questions to my spouse about the information in the I-130 form, like name, address, etc. To me, she only asked my current address and some of the yes or no questions. She also asked if it was the first marriage for both of us and we said yes.

Then she said that she was going to approve our case and that we will be getting the green card within 2 weeks but that it might take up to a month.

She handed us the interview completed but case has to be reviewed letter and said that we do not have to worry, because they give that letter to everyone, that it's just a confirmation that we attended the interview, for our records.

Then she took copies of our passports, EAD and DL. Handed our IDs back and said: Enjoy your life together! We thanked her and said good bye.

The officer was very nice and the interview lasted about 15 to 20 minutes.

We were very nervous because we didn't know that it was a good idea to submit evidence of bonafide marriage when you first apply, so we only submitted the basics and took all the pictures and joint documents to our interview. We did not have a lawyer either, we did everything ourselves. Also, I did not have to redo my medical exam because the surgeon signed it 2 weeks before our PD so it was still valid (the officer did not ask for a new one or for flu shots or anything else).

We are so happy that this wait is finally over!! It took 19 months since the day we applied.

I know that a lot of people has already said this but it is true: If your marriage is real, you have nothing to worry about, everything is going to be alright. Thanks to everyone that have shared experiences here, this forum has been very helpful. I hope my experience can help someone too.

Good luck to everyone waiting! Your time will come.
