Medical ( for Charleston,SC filers) Experience
Good day y’all! I would just like to share my experience with my medical.
After receiving my interview appointment ( I only had one month to get medical by the time I got my notice) I called numerous clinics listed on the USCIS website for civil surgeons and they were all charging an arm and a leg ( i think they are taking advantage of immigrants theough their ridiculously overpriced fees!) and I found Dr Timothy Wingo in Mount Pleasant,SC. It was fast, thorough and cheap! He explained why he was able to charge the lowest in the area ( via volume) and explained how he understands the process we are all going through (he went through it with his wife- it’s nice to have a doc that do understand!). All he did was go through my vaccination records to see what I would need, took blood sample, a urine sample, auscultate the lungs and heart, and a quick palpation of my thyroid. As for the vaccines, he will write you a prescription and you would have to take that into a pharmacy/ clinic so you can have it covered by your insurance bec he explained that if he gave it to you, you will have to pay for it yourself bec their billing code will show it as for immigration purposes so automatically insurance will not cover it. BUT if you take it to a pharmacy/clinic, they have a different billing system and it’s going to show as preventive treatment so insurance will cover it...saving you cash anywhere from $40-$200 ( depending on what you need based on your vaccination record). He only charged me $350 for the entire thing! Definitely the cheapest of all the civil surgeons in the area. Oh, as for the TB test, he does it via blood work so you wont have to go back to him to have the results read and if you live far away from his clinic, they will waive the $20 mailing fee and just send your completed forms back for free.

Sorry for the long post but I really wanted to tell you guys about him bec he had made the whole medical check up process very easy ( both in my mind and in our pockets!).
