Green Card experience - San Jose, CA
Hi everyone! I was a silent reader before, so today i want to share with you all about my green card processing time and experience. I was married to a US Citizen in December 2017. Apply for a Green Card on April 2018. I used an immigration attorney located in Los Angeles, even though i don't live there! Here is our timeline:
Green Card Apllied on April 2018
May 2018 : Biometrics test
August 2018 : got my EAD and Social Security Card
October 2018: Interview has been scheduled
December 2018 : Received a mail for Interview Date which is 29 January 2019
29 January 2019 : Interview at San Jose Field Office @10.15am
We were there, me and my husband, as well as my attorney around 10 am. We checked in and did a body check. After a body check a lady gave me waiting number and we waited in the waiting area. We were nervous and scared because we thought they might ask something out of the box or might ask something difficult, but our lawyer said we have to relaxed and tell them the truth and don't ever lie. 30 minutes after, we were called inside by the officer. When we got into his room we sat down and he didn't begin to ask me questions. He looked through my documents, paper, including my Medical examination paper, I-130, I-131, and of course I-485. He took a while and checked everything he needs and all we do was waiting in silence for around 20-30 minutes. And he began asking about me, he went through all my I-485, told me to re-check my name spelling and my current address, asked me if the spelling is right and there is nothing wrong with it, and i said "yes" everything correct. He asked me if i ever visit USA before my last entry, what is the purpose of your entrance, where do you live, who do you live with, and the yes/no questions. Surprisingly, he didn't go through all the yes/no questions for me, i think because he already review our application even before we get there. And our attorney provide them with a very detail documents that they need. After that he began asking my husband, where do you live now, where do you live before, and he asked about marriage related questions. When did you guys meet each other, is your dad happy when you get married, where did you meet each other, and THATS IT!!! After that he asked me if we want to give him more additional documents, my attorney gave a bundle of papers, thicker than a dictionary to him, and that is all our information. I also gave him our pictures together, he also asked about someone in the picture, who are the people in the picture, and where is that picture taken. After everything done, he didn't tell us that if my I485 is accepted or not, instead he told us to wait because he has to review everything and told us to wait 2-6 weeks for everything to be processed.
30 January 2019 : got status update on my I485, "New Card is being produced", i actually don't know what it really means, so i just wait patiently
1 February 2019 : status change to "Card ready to be delivered"
8 February 2019 : i got my Welcome to America letter and i130 approval letter. That's when i know that my application is approved and very happy!!!!
9 February 2019, which is today, i finally get my permanent resident card for 2 years because we are married for less than 2 years.
We are so happy because now i can travel with my husband and can't wait to do more exciting things in the future. Thank to my lawyer because they are very hard working and very detail in organizing everything! You guys, for those who are still waiting, please be patient and keep praying! Only God can make this happen, i wish you guys good luck :)
