Marriage-based - Same sex - San Antonio
I came to the US on an F1 visa and got married to a US citizen. We were worried initially since we were a same sex couple, so we hired a lawyer. We collected a lot of documents as evidence and filed them with our application including lease, bank documents, photos, evidence of travel together, car and health insurance, phone call records, receipt of rings purchased, credit cards together, holiday cards from family and affidavits of support from friends and family.

Here is a timeline for our case:

Married - May 2018
Application received by USCIS - June 2018
EAD card - October 2018
Interview Scheduled - January 2019
Interview - February 2019

The interview itself was very smooth. We arrived around 15 minutes before the scheduled time and had to clear security and wait in the waiting room for around 45 minutes as the previous interview was running late. The interviewer was a nice young woman who called out our number and we proceeded to her room. She swore us in and asked us for our id's - we gave her drivers licenses and passports and the visa I used to enter. She started asking us very general questions about our names, social security numbers, how we traveled there. She was very friendly and told us that our case will be approved. She also took a picture and the fingerprints. In around 15 minutes, the interview was over.

I had signed up for receiving emails about case status changes online on the USCIS website shortly after submitting the application, We received an email from USCIS in about 1 hour that the new card is being produced.

Hope this helps.
