H1B extension- Vancouver 14th Feb
Hi all, below is my experience about my interview.

Interview Date: 14 Jan 2019
Time: 7:00 am (expedited request, since I had to travel to Vancouver for business purpose)
Background: Pharmaceutical R&D, Full-time
H1 status: I had only 7 months left on my 6th year I-129 petition with approved I-140. First stamping done in India.

Reached the consulate at 6:30 am, it was very cold and nobody were present at the consulate. Waited in the Starbucks next door. At 6:55 am people started lining up and security started verifying documents of the group who had 7:00 am appointments.

First security guard verifies passport and puts a bar code to the passport. They provide lockers where you can store your mobile phones for free. We then took stairs to the second floor where security scans all your belongings TSA style. after which we go into a room where people verify your photo.

They did not accept the photo I had on my DS-160, so I had to step outside to a shop across the street to get new pictures. The name of the store is "Copy house" and they charge CAD 15 for two photos. The consulate has a photo booth in there but unfortunately it was not working. I told the security guard on 1st floor, that I am coming back after taking new pictures and they let you skip the line and go to the TSA style security on 2nd floor directly.

This time the lady at the counter accepted the photo and scanned it to my application form. She verifies all documents and asked me questions:
1. Where are you coming from - in my case it was from USA
2. What is your legal status in Canada - for me it was a visitor visa
3. Why did you book an expedited appointment - for me it was business travel

She then sent me to another counter for fingerprints, after which I was taken to the 20th floor. 3rd window VO took my passport and I-797. Interview lasted less than a minute. Very friendly VO and simple questions:

1. What is your job title?
2. Did you do Master's in the US
3. Which University and major

He flipped through my passport for my first H1 stamp, which I got in India.
He then said your Visa is approved. Passport should be ready for pickup in 3-5 business days.

Very smooth and straightforward process, except for the issue with photo.

Feb 14th: Admin Processing
Feb 15th: Issued
Feb 15th: Received e-mail from Canada Post that passport will be ready for pickup on 18th Feb, since Canada post doesn't function on Sat and Sun.

Good luck guys! Happy to answer questions anyone might have
