H1B Visa Stamping in Ottawa
I had my H1b re- stamping interview at Ottawa Embassy at 9:15 AM today, i got my first stamping done in Montreal, Canada few years ago.
I arrived at the embassy at 8.45 AM and was asked to wait for 15 minutes outside the embassy, its really cold here, so I do not recommend coming more than 15 mins early to your appointment because they won't let you in, the embassy is too small to fit too many people at the same time.
You are not allowed to take any backpacks, handbags, etc. You can leave your cell phone and watch when you check in and pick it up when you leave but nothing more than that.
When you enter the lady at the front desk will check your documents and then you go stand in the line, after that they verify your documents at first window and send you for finger printing at other window and then you go for interview.
I was asked the following questions
1) What is your highest degree
2) How much did you make last year
3) Where do you work
4) Who is your employer
5) Is your I-140 approved
6) Which countries did you visit in the last five years
7) Which two degrees did I get in USA and when

After that she said that my visa is approved but there is a flag in the system that I was out of status in 2010 which is in an error and she has to send a message to USCIS to get it removed, so it may take a little longer due to administrative processing.
I told her that I had the same issue last time when I got my H1b stamped and i thought they had fixed it, she said this time hopefully they will get it right.

I think the whole the process went pretty smooth, I have had this issue of out of status a few times before and it always gets resolved, its just a little annoying to go through it every time but otherwise all good. The people at the embassy were really friendly.
