Hi family,
Firstly I would like to thank everyone in this forum because your post and comments were helpful to me. I have been a silent reader since 2017 and now I thought I should at least share my experience. God has been faithful 🙏.
I was married to a permanent resident and
October 2016 filed in form i130
Got approved in January 30 2017.
My priority date was not current, so I waited for almost a year before I could file form I 485
In June 2018 I submitted forms for adjustment of status (i485)
February 5 was scheduled for interview at Minneapolis center. Interview was so brief and lasted for about 20 minutes. The officer was a young lady of about 29- early 30s. He was not friendly. He want straight to asking us to swear without no smile. She ask me to confirm my address, my current job and went straight to the yes or no questions. She later ask me to submit my current opt form because I was adjusting from an F1 student. She turned to my husband to show his current pay stub and w2, then she asked us how did we met and who proposed that was all. We had a lot of evidence u could think of: joint lease, photos, car ownership, insurance membership cards, 41k and bills payment but she refused to take any even when I requested her to take. She gave us a paper after the interview saying she will recommend for approval. I was not happy or relief at the time because she was unfriendly and too strict.
February 19 we received a letter of case approval and welcome to the United States of America.
On the 23 of February received card in mail, 10 years. Status did not update until after I received everything. So my dear friends you don't need to worry if your marriage is genuine. Love conquers all.
We did everything without a lawyer. I think in my opinion getting a lawyer is not necessary unless you have a twisted case. Otherwise you don't need one because they can some time mess you up.
Thanks all.
