Case Inquiry for I-130. What to expect?
Hello New York Filers!

Filing from Brooklyn here. I am adjusting status through my USC spouse. We filed for I-485 and I-130 concurrently.

Our PD for both forms: March 07, 2018
On March 17, 2018 we received form I-797C (NOA) with our PD, Receipt Numbers, and Payment information for both forms.
I had my biometrics appointment on April 11, 2018 at ASC USCIS Brooklyn
As of August 22, 2018 my I-485 case status shows that "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview." My form I-485 is already at the Brooklyn Field Office. However, my form I-130 has for some reason being stuck at the National Benefits Center a.k.a Missouri Service Center (MSC).

At this point it has been a year and some weeks since we filed everything. Last week on March 12, 2019 I decided to call The USCIS National Customer Service Center (NCSC) as I noticed after checking case processing times for form I-130 from the USCIS website and realized my I-130 case receipt date is older than the “Receipt date for a case inquiry."

The agent I talked to helped me over the phone to submit an “outside normal processing time” service request for my I-130 case and she gave me a reference # for this case inquiry. She said that they will reach out to me in approximately 15 days to a month later. She confirmed to me that my I-485 is at the Brooklyn Field office sitting and waiting for the I-130 to be accepted/cleared. She also said that as the I-130 is processed and accepted, that will likely prompt to finally have an interview scheduled.

I must say I am constantly checking my cases online and have been very meticulous about keeping records pertaining to my immigration case well organized.

These are my Questions:

1- I was wondering if someone is in a similar situation or with a similar PD as mine adjusting status with I-130 and I-485 concurrently?

2- What should I expect from this case inquiry for form I-130 and why is the MSC taking so long to approve it?

3- Could someone please share their experience when they submitted a case inquiry for form I-130 and if that indeed (once cleared/accepted) caused for their interviews to be scheduled faster?

4- I’ve also done some research and realized I should have received a 2nd form I-797C (NOA) for I-130 stating that the petition for alien relative was accepted but I never did! Is this correct? (When I check my case I-130 online it only says “On March 7, 2018, we received your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number MSC….” and has not changed at all ever since unlike my for I-485)

I appreciate any response! The wait we must all endure is for sure challenging (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE FILING FROM NYC!) but reading other people’s experiences and sharing mine for sure helps easing my mind. Thank you and best of luck to all and anyone reading this long post!
