Biometrics- May 10, 2018

My case finally moved outside normal processing times a couple of weeks ago..... a service request showed I was still in background check.
My case is obviously an outlier, but I’m hearing more and more people are not getting cleared in reasonable time. I was already suspicious as it took USCIS 4 months to schedule my biometrics and I received a letter in the mail from them late in 2018 saying I didn’t have a valid US mailing address! Go figure!
I had a long conversation with my lawyer.... we decided to give them a full year from my biometrics(May), and then we will try to solve this with more service requests, infopasses, letters to my congresspersons and DHS ombudsman. If all fails, we will file a lawsuit on the 2 year anniversary of my application(Jan 2020).
I’m wondering if any of the posters here have been stuck for an extended period of time in background check and what action they are taking.
