Canada Visitor Visa from USA
Here is my experience with Canada Visitor Visa applied from USA
• March 8, 2019 – Submitted (with family) application online and paid application fee ($100 CAD/applicant) and biometric fee ($170 CAD for Family).
• March 9, 2019 – Received Biometrics Collection Letter
• March 12, 2019 – Gave Biometrics at USICS Application Center. (I live in USA)
• March 12, 2019 –Biometrics details reflected online on same day. Biometrics is valid for 10 Years.
• March 13, 2019 – Request for original passport
• March 14, 2019 – Send passport on Fedx International Priority to Ottawa. Send all passport in 1 package with 1 return label and commercial invoice. Create label at home. Followed below link (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account/where-submit-passport/cross-border-shipment-instructions.html). No money order/cashier check for Ottawa office.
• March 15, 2019 – Passport received Ottawa Visa Office
• March 20, 2019 – Visa got approved. Approved until passport’s expiry date (-1).
• March 21, 2019 – Approved status reflected online
• March 26, 2019 – Passport with stamped visitor visa shipped. Got update from Fedx (I enabled email notification when I create FedEx online shipping label)
• March 27, 2019 – Received our passports
Overall experience was really great. Obviously there will be little tense moment, when we send passport until we receive it back. Hope this information will help whoever going to apply visitor visa.
