NYC - Federal Plaza interview then EAD renewal(?)
PD: Jun 23, 2017
Interview: Feb 19 2019, NY Federal Plaza

Arrived at 9:30 for a 10:00am appointment. We waited until 2:30pm to be called in. Interview lasted about 45 mins - female officer went through entire application in depth; questions included the usual (names, yes/no, dates of birth, address, workplace, etc), as well as going into surprising depth for other questions, eg.
- when did your partner first enter the country, when did he last enter
- who attended the wedding, where was it, etc.
- what are your in-law's names, where do they live
- what associations are you a member of?
- asking us to identify guests and family in wedding photos
- ...and more

She asked for specific identification documents, originals, and other proofs, and then when we had much more to offer (we brought binders full of supporting documents) she took everything we handed her. She also asked disconcerting questions about the religious elements of our marriage ceremony and relationship. At the end of the interview, after flipping through our entire wedding album, she handed us the "Your case is being held for review" notice and wouldn't give us a definitive answer. Then, no change in online status until March 12, "Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed".

In June 2018 I applied to renew my EAD combo card (expiration: Oct 2018). Renewal did not happen by the time of the interview. We were told by a Level 2 USCIS officer that the renewal would now not happen before the Green Card is approved, because the case file had been moved to the NY Field Office. With the work authorization 180-day extension expiring on March 30, I have been preparing to stop working while we indefinitely wait for the green card.

However, on March 28 online status on the I-765 Work Authorization renewal changed to "New Card Is Being Produced". What??? This is great for being able to work, but what does it mean for the I-485/green card?
