Applying for marriage based GC, AOS from f1.

Biometrics 03/29/2019
I filed from NJ, and my case is with NBC.
First of, I’ve been looking through a lot of these post in order to get a clearer picture of how long people are waiting for their EAD, since I need to travel. My lawyer told me 3-5 months, but I’m starting to sweat because I have a trip planned.
When I look at the waiting times on uscis with the different centers, it seems NBC has the longest waiting time of them! Whyyyy!
How can people expedite? Is that only for an emergency trip or a pending job offer? And what is a “priority date”? I see a lot of people mentioning it.
I’m so stressed because I’m scared I won’t have my travel permit in time.
