EAD and SSN timeline San Diego, CA MSC
Hi everyone, first I would like to thank everyone for sharing their experience. It really helped me not to go crazy during the waiting period. I would like to share my experience to help others too!

I have applied for a Green Card through marriage I-485 from San Diego, California and case number starts with MSC (which means, that my case is/was located in National Benefits Center).

02/07 Case Sent
02/08 Case Received by USCIS
02/15 All receipts & confirmations in mail
02/23 Biometrics appointment letter
03/05 Biometrics appointment completed
03/14 I-485 Status changed to "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview"
05/07 EAD I-765 status changed from "Case Received" to "New Card Is Being Produced"
05/10 EAD status changed to "EAD Card Was Mailed To Me"
05/11 EAD & AP approval letters in mail (online status for AP I-131 has never changed from "Case Received")
05/13 EAD status changed to "EAD Card Was Picked Up By USPS" it also included a tracking number, and USPS tracking stated - "Expected Delivery By 05/15"
05/15 EAD & AP Combo Card delivered TO MY LAWYER'S OFFICE (I had a panic attack when I checked USPS tracking, and it said "delivered", but there was nothing in my mail) and picked up from the lawyer's office the same day.
05/21 SSN number not in mail, picked it up from a SSA office and my card should arrive within 14 days.

It took 89 days for my EAD approval, I was about to call USCIS on day 90th, but I checked my status one more time and 'tadaa' my EAD was approved. After the EAD approval everything went very smooth, but SSN. USCIS website says that "if you don't receive your SSN within 7 days after you get your EAD card IN MAIL, go or call to the SSA office) - btw don't call them, I called SSA yesterday and waited 40 min for them to pick up, to only find out that they are not able to check anything until I have my SS number... So, I went to the SSA office today, which is pretty much 4 business days after receiving my EAD & AP Combo Card in the mail (I am not very patient, lol) and they told me that my SSN has been generated just yesterday, so it should arrive in mail within 14 days, HOWEVER the lady provided me with my SS Number on the spot, so I can start using it, starting today! Wohoo! I would recommend everyone, who is impatient as me, doing the same, because all you need is your SS number (Card is not that important), especially, that, even though you are legally allowed to work in the US, you cannot work till you obtain your SSN.

Other thing for interested:
My EAD card arrived in my maiden name, even though I have changed my last name when I got married and even though I sent a copy of my marriage licence. My SSN has been also created with my maiden name, and I cannot change it (even by showing a proof of the marriage licence). My SSN last name can be updated IF I apply for a name change on my EAD (which I won't, lol) or with my green card once I get one (I believe I can ask the immigration officer to put my new last name on the GC). So, everyone having a new last name is pain in the ... I wanted to apply with my new name, but my lawyer advised to apply with the maiden name since this is what my passport says as well. Oh well.

Still no updates on my Green Card, but it has been only 3 months so far, so I will still have time to panic about that!

If anyone has any questions to me, I am more than happy to help! I know how frustrating this whole process may be. Ask ahead!
