Successful H1B Stamping at Montreal Canada on May 21 2019
Dear Members, wanted to update my experience to this very useful forum...!!
Both me and my wife (Both H1B with with different companies, I am software engineer and wife is Mechanical engineer ) had successful H1B stamping at Montreal Canada us consulate on May 21, 2019 at 12:30 PM EST.
We drove from US to Canada and had no issues entering into canada. I have a 3 year old daughter as well and she is US citizen.
FYI, we called consulate earlier any the confirmed that US citizen kids are not allowed at embassy. I have my friend lives in Montreal so that resolved our problem.
Interview:
We found a parking at 11:30 PM near government of canada building on Jeanne Mance street ($18 per day) 2 streets before Saint Alexander street. There is a mall in that building so you can have your lunch or wait there until your appointment time.
We reached there at 11:45 PM and security guard asked us to come by 12:30 as we were too early.
We went again around 12:20 and there were only 3 people in front us. Weather was little cold we we had our Jackets on. Security guard started calling one by one around 12:40 PM.
Frist Check: DS160 confirmation, Passport. Visa officer put a sticker on the back of passport and marked V on it.
Second Check: Security check like airport. They took our car keys and gave us a ticket for pick up while coming back. After security VO asked us to go down stairs and take a elevator to 19th floor. FYI, there is a photo booth next to elevator in case of passport photo. Elevator had only 2 buttons ground floor and 19 floor.
Third Check: Documents : Passport, I-797 H1B receipt and one Passport size photo. VO asked about our status in Canada (we replied as visitor visa). Both me and my wife went together on documents check window as a family. After checking documents, VO asked us to go to window 5 for finger prints.
Fourth Check: Finger prints: VO will ask to put your left 4 fingers first followed by right 4 fingers and then two thumbs together. After fingerprints, VO asked to seat in waiting area.
Final Interview: VO took first 10 members into different room. its a big floor with more than 2 interview rooms i guess. we went to room with window 9 to 12. there was only one window open and one lady was conducting interviews.
I: Good Afternoon, how are you.
VO: I am good, how about you.
I: we gave our documents, passports and I-797.
I: So you work at xyz company and how about your wife.
wife: I work in abc company. we are with different employers.
VO: to my wife, so what do they you and what do you do.
wife: explained about small size mechanical design company and explained her role and responsibilities.
VO: so how big is the company (looks like she was not clear about the company)
wife: its a medium size company (even though its not that medium and not too small) and explained how company works.
VO: to me, how about you?
I: explained my title and duties in less than 15 seconds.
VO: When are you planning to leave:
I: by end of the week, I told here that I wanted to enjoy my memorial weekend in USA. :)
VO: smiled and said that I am approving your visa. it should be ready by Friday and keep an eye on emails.
we: Thank you ma'am, have a wonderful day.

May 22, 2019: status still shows as Admin processing.
I will update you once visa status will change.

Thank you again...!!
