Adjustment of Status - I-485

Where do i start from. My Journey of almost a decade in this county on Visas and as an immigrant is finally over.
Such an emotional moment. All thanks to God for driving this through smoothly.

My case : Employment based , Cross chargeability to Spouse's country. I'm the Prinicpal applicant.

When we first got the Interview Notice, we went for a prep call with my company's lawyer. My Lawyer clearly emphasized that it is an employment based
interview and the duration of interview should be about 15 - 20 mins sincei have an Excellent Employment history.

She asked us to carry following documents along:

1. PayStubs.
2. I-140.
3. Employment Verification Letter.
4. Passports.
5. Proof of residence.
6. Marriage Certificate.
7. Birth Certificates ( for both of us )

We asked her, should we carry any bonafides along ?, such as

1. Joint Bank Statement.
2. Car Insurance with both names.
3. Health Insurance cards with both names.
4. Album with pictures of us from vacations, with friends, family etc.
5. Any document to Coroborate our marraige.

She said, you guys are thinking too much into this. its good to have bonafides but NOT required since your's is EB interview.

Day of Interview : Fasten your seat belts and grab your popcorn. we gonna go on a dramatic ride.

 My wife and I reached the FO about 30 mins before the scheduled interview time. However, we were called in only after 45 mins of our shceduled time.

Walked in and took Oath.
She just took my picture and finger prints.
Asked us to Sign a waiver since we are not represented by lawyer.
Asked for passports and birht certificates.

1. When did you guys get married.
2. When & did you first meet. What was your first date like. when did it become serious.
3. Do you live together. Yes. Can you give me the leasing document ( Bummer, no ?. We carried leasing documents . LOL. so gave it to her ).
4. Was the decision muttual to move in together and why did you mvoe in together.
5. what all countries you visited together. and what all cities in the States you visited together.
6. Sir you, Can you tell me your Wife's parents COMPLETE NAMES.
7. Where do you work, do you manage people. How did you find this job. How many PTOs/Leaves you have at work. Do you have WFH option. Do you use it often ?
8. Ma'am, do you work. Which company do you work for.
9. Sir, you both are from different cultures. How do you manage. Do you still follow each other's cultures ?. did you guys ever fight about it ?
10. some more questions about our belief systems and if it effects our relationshsip.
11. Who proosed and when and where.
12. do each of your parents accept your significant others, considering you both are from different countrirs, Launguages, cultures.

I was thinking to myself, ummmmmmm, am i in a different interview. I thought my case is Employment based no.
My wife and I prepared ONLY around employment based interview. We have NOT EVEN once talked about all the above questions.
So it kinda took me by surprise. Anyway, lets move on. The above went on for about 30 mins.

and she goes, Okie Guys.... I was like thank god, its over. Was i wrong. yesssssss.
NowSir, I will ask you to wait in the waiting room while i talk to your wife.
My Mind : Holy Moly.
She escoreted me to the Waiting room.

She went ahead interviewing my wife while i waited outside. I started waiting 5 mins.... 10 mins... 15 mins.. Thinking what all questions they might be asking my wife. we havent for once talked anything about our life, events, dates, celebrations NOTHING.
20 minss... There comes the IO Officer. Sir, pls follow me. Takes me back into the Room where my wife is already seated.

Sir,

1. Do your wife have any medical condition ?. Me : No Ma'am just a skin allergy due to water.
2. Okie, When did she go to the doctor? me:She went last year once.
3. what type of medicine was prescribed. Me: umm, i think it was a cream.... yes. it was a cream and i remember becuase we talked about how expensive it is.
4. When was her recent visit and what is the prescibed medicine this time around ? . Me : I guess last month. and they gave some sort of Liquid medicine this time.
5. I believe you recently celebrated your birthday ( couple months ago )?. Me : yes Ma'am.
6. Okie, what gifts did your wife buy ? Me ( thinking to myself. Shoot man, let me think ) : Told her what she bought for me.
7. Did she buy any baloons ? . Me: Yes Ma'am
8. what color were they ? . Me : Told her the TYPE of the color. Lol.
9. Did you guys go out after or before the celebrations and where ?. Told her yes, we went out for drinks before.
10. okie, Does your wife havbe fixed work schedule ?. Me : No.
11. Do you ever drop her to work and under which scenrios ? . Me : explained her.
12. Whcih cities did you go to honeymoon for etc.
13. and many more such questions which i dont exactly remember.
14. Started with 485 Questions to both of us.
15. Do you have pictures.I gave a side eye look to my wife.
( bummer no ?. But We printed some pictures of us together just a Night before. My wife was not interested saying ours is Employment based and that i'm thinking too much.
I said NO, lets do it. Its better to be safe than sorry. So we printed it. I also insited on her carrying EVERY legal document she has on her file. She was pretty pissed at me.

 ). IO picked some of the pitcures for records.

The above went for another 25 mins.

Okie Sir and Ma'am. I will need to review your case further. Gave us a white paer with the same. Thank you. Escorted us out.

My wife and i talked about it and she told me that she was asked exactly the same questions which i was asked later.
We both missed the mark on some questions but NOT completly OFF.
However, we thought we did decent considering the fact that we were NOT even prepared.

2 hours later :
My wife's Case. new Card being Produced. Happy yayy..Checked my case. Interview completed and my case must be reviewed.
We could not celebrate since one of us is still stuck.

One day later : My case is still stuck. Lawyer said, we both should get approval notices since they cannot just approve Dependent and not Prinicpal.

Two days later : My case is still stuck int he same status.

Three days later : My case is still stuck int he same status.

Fourth day : Got home and checked mail . Boom . We have 485 Approvals for both along with my 485J Approval notice.

Thank god. We went out to have a drink to celebrate.

a day later : Both of our cases changed to Card has been Mailed.

a day later : USPS picked up the cards.

Waiting to get the cards on hand. tomorrow hopefully.
