Hi All,
  I had to attend my interview at chennai consulate.
Let me list my complete itenary which would be helpful for applicants travelling from Bangalore. My interview was on the 21st of Dec and I travelled to Chennai the previous evening by Shatabdi Express.Very comfortable and the food is included in your ticket fare.Once at chennai station, hired a prepaid auto and reached Hotel Palmgrove which is five minutes from the consulate.Rooms are pretty good and they provide nice complimentary breakfast.My interview was at 1:30 PM.I reached there at 1:00 PM.No use of going early.At 1:15 Pm they called us inside.
1. Routine security check.

2. Here you need to be seated in line and then the VFS guys will check your documents.There were only 4 counters open and they were giving preference to applicants with wife and kids.Each counter has about four or five people standing and each applicant will be given ten minutes for all the documents verification.So the wait is about 50 minutes once you are assigned a counter.When I was about to be assigned, another counter opened and I was sent there and my documents were checked and then they told me to go to the next building for the Visa Interview.

3. Here first you will be fingerprinted and then the VFS guys will assign to some counter.We had to stand in line and it was a very long queue.The VO was taking about ten minutes for each applicant and then rejecting their application.I am a BE from Comp Sc background and was told by my employer that it would not be difficult for me to get a visa.When I was fourth in line after about an hour and half in wait, the VFS guys directed me to another counter.

4.I joined the new counter and I was third in line.The first applicant was for a tourist visa and was rejected.The second applicant was a H1B and he was an MBA.It seemed like he had not gone through the documentation sent by his company.He was asked for the United States Homeland security document and each time this applicant gave an absurd reply.the VO asked him 5 times and then the 6th time he said, I want a Yes or a No and he was issued a 221g and the Vo seemed in a angry mood.He called me next and I handed over the documents.
VO: What is your Qualification ?
Me : Bachelor of Engineering in Comp. Sc.

VO : Show me your degree Certificate;
Me : Gave it to him.

I then said I have my marks cards too. He took them all and went in to verify.After two minutes he came and typed something on his comp and asked me for my project details and I gave it.He then typed again for a minute and took out a card.I was a bit scared thinking its a 221g.He then said if your employer does not pay you the amount mentioned in the Offer Letter or does not pay you within thirty days of coming to the US, you can contact this number.
I was still not sure if my visa was approved.So I asked him can I collect my passport today and he said too late,tomorrow and said Next.

Guys, be cool and dont hide anything.Any fake docs, forget about visa for life.All the best.
Coming back, I got a good fare by Kingfisher and the best part was, most of the people I saw at the consulate were on my flight.
