485 GC approved - Newark field office
Hi everyone,

I've benefited a lot from reading the experiences that others posted, so I'm posting my timeline here, hoping that this can help others who are in the same boat:

485 based on marriage to USC. Case sent to NBC
- PD: early Sept. 2018
- EAD/AP: late Feb. 2019
- Moved in April to a different state, updated my address with NBC. In about two weeks, An interview was scheduled. I talked to my lawyer beforehand about the possibility of a delay if we moved to a different state, and I was told that if my case was still at NBC, there might not be a delay; if my case already reached the field office, then there might be a delay of 6 months transferring my case over. I called the immigration hotline before I changed my address with USCIS and was told that my case was still with NBC. Unbeknownst to me, the transfer seemed to have sped up my interview scheduling. I'm guessing I was already not that far off being scheduled for an interview and they just "slotted me in" when they changed my address. Just my hunch though.
- 5/28/19: interview at Newark. We sent a lot of supporting doc prior so the IO didn't really look at the other docs that we brought with us and gave us the approval on the spot.
- 5/29/19: Case was updated at USCIS as being approved.

Wishing everyone best of luck! Focus on the other things in your life and don't be bothered by the wait nor the process. Life is too short to fret over things that we cannot control. :)
