Just when I thought the wait is finally over (after 15 months of waiting from the date of filing), I received my greencard today with an error on the resident since/card expiration dates. Instead of May 22, 2019, it was May 22, 2018 and expiration is May 2020 instead of 2021. This is obviously a USCIS mistake and not mine.
I called USCIS and reported the error. The officer was so rude and was not being so helpful. I had to talk my way to get as much information I could get that I am now in doubt if she was giving the right info. Everytime I asked a question, she placed me on hold and check. She said that I need to file and submit I-90 form with supporting documents and the original green card. I asked what supporting documents they need and she said she can't tell me what it will be. She said it will take 5-8 months to process the replacement of the card and applicable fees may apply. This is very frustrating since it is not my fault with this error and that I have to go through the hassle of filing and processing forms again and might even pay for it. I asked what will be my proof of residency while the request is being processed and what will I give my employer as proof of my work authorization and or my travel document if I needed to, she just didn't know the answer. I asked to be transferred to a level 2 officer, she said she can't do that. The line will just be cut if she does. Basically, she didn't give me any other choice but to just call again and hope that she will not be the one taking my call. I tried to call again but the wait time is beyond their office hours. So I have to wait for Monday.
Does anyone had a similar experience of this error with the greencard? What did you do?
Appreciate your advise/help in advance. Thanks!
