We provided a letter from my husband’s university, another letter from the conference host, and our own letter explaining the situation. All letters framed this conference activity according to USCIS criteria: “nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States.” Our senator forwarded the documentation on our behalf three weeks ago and we got confirmation of its approval today. We still need to wait for the card to arrive.
