Interview Letter Not Received and Now Denied

Received notification May 16 from Case Tracker App that I was scheduled for interview and a letter will be sent. After a week, I Called USCIS hotline to verify my new address and to inquire about the letter of interview. IO confirmed my new address and was told to wait for the letter within a month. On June 10, I called again to ask for an update of my interview and was told to wait again as my case is still within processing time. He also said that he can’t see from their record that a letter was sent.
Then today (June 14), I received a letter that they are denying my application due to my non appearance on June 10 interview!!!!! I did not receive any letter from them and now they are denying my application!!!!! I immediately filled up a form I-290B Notice of Appeal or Motion and have to pay another $675!!!!
May I know anyone experiencing the same predicament as I am and what will happen now after I filed for Appeal? How long are they going to reschedule my interview? Please advise me of what else can I do. I’m at my wits end and so frustrated. Do I need to hire a lawyer at this stage?
