Interview Reschedule
I can’t believe after waiting anxiously and impatiently for my case to be scheduled for an interview, and the notice to come in the mail, I will be out of the country! My husband and I booked tickets to go to my home country since March, and our interview is 4 days before we come back. I was praying this did not happen after I got updates that my case was ready to be scheduled for an interview, then it was scheduled; especially because I just sent in a RFE with the ticket confirmations with the date that we will be travelling as proof of our relationship!!! Makes me wonder if they really looked at my case thoroughly!
As soon as we got the notice on July 3rd, I called USCIS customer service and asked to reschedule my interview because the notice did not have the reschedule box others seem to have had on theirs. The officer was very pleasant, he took my information, asked if there was a box, I said no and then he asked which field office (Mount Laurel), he also asked the reason for the reschedule, I said travel that was booked months in advance, he said okay and gave me a referral number “T1B YYYY YYYY XXMSC”. I checked my case status history today and it reads under “Next Steps”: “As of July 3, 2019, your request to have your interview rescheduled, referral number T1B YYYY YYYY XXMTL, is currently not assigned for processing.” I assume MTL is Mount Laurel.
I called after 5pm on Wednesday, July 3rd after they closed and yesterday was a holiday. So now we wait…

I know people will say I’m probably stupid for rescheduling, and it’s not a good idea at all; nothing good comes out of rescheduling; I will have to wait months before I get another interview notice; it’s not urgent. But we spent a lot on those tickets, and things that are non-refundable that we already paid for during the trip! I also know someone whose field office is in New York has rescheduled their interview 3, yes THREE times. I know Mount Laurel is not as busy as New York so I am hopeful.
I am however grateful that my case is moving a lot quicker than I expected. I am even willing and prepared to do the interview before we travel in less than 3 weeks. I also drafted a cover letter on Wednesday asking for the request along with the interview notice and included documents such as our trip confirmation and receipt, and a photocopy of my EAD/AP combo card.
Should I wait for an update on the request, or go ahead and mail the letter and documents off to my field office?

I’m open to hear any experiences and timelines for those who rescheduled their interview.
Please no negative comments. Thank you.
