Green card in hand - NYC
Hi everyone!

I've been waiting for this moment for so long, now I can finally share my full experience, as after 2,5 years my waiting game is OVER!!! I can't put it into words how happy and relieved I am, also extremely thankful for this forum, as you guys helped me so much and kept me informed through my journey.

Here is my complete timeline:

December 20th, 2016: married to US Citizen in a US Territory, then went back to my home country.

February 11th, 2017: moved to NYC, entered with an Esta, that I overstayed with few months.

July 26th, 2017: PD. Since I had no idea how immigration works and didn't want to mess up anything, we hired a lawyer, but it took longer to gather all the paperwork than expected. To prove that our marriage is real we filed joint bank documents, joint credit card statements, joint rent lease, photos, tax returns, pay stubs, cabel, internet and phone bills.

August 2017: Biometrics

September 2017 : received RFE for sponsorship

November 14th 2017: received EAD + AP combo card

September 2018: requested EAD renewal (never received new card)

February 4th 2019: online status has been updated to scheduled for interview. A week later got my official notice via mail.

March 13th 2019: initial interview at Federal Plaza. The IO was straight forward and strict, mainly asked my husband about our relationship, barely asked anything from me. Make sure you and your spouse know the relationship timeline and dates, and don't prepare with too many photos, I spent so much time to put together a big album, but she only asked for two pictures. Even if you bring an album, choose the 2-3 pics, what you gonna give them, so you don't have to spend time there, I was so nervous, didn't know what to give her at the moment. Also on the images you can't wear hats or sunglasses. My interview wasn't smooth, as the page of the yes and no questions went missing somehow, so the IO couldn't complete the interview. I knew that I filled out that page, so either my lawyer did a poor job sending the papers in, or USCIS messed it up. I was devastated, and couldn't believe that I was waiting for two years and USCIS probably haven't even checked my application, otherwise someone would have noticed that one of the most important page was missing. Had to go to my lawyer's office, get the missing page and go back next week, on March 26th to continue with the yes and no questions. I was SOOO frustrated at this point. My husband had to travel a lot at the time because of his job, and he could not attend on the second part of the interview, but IO was thankfully fine with that. When we were done, she handed me a paper that stated that they'll make a decision in 120 days.

June 28th 2019: received a letter from USCIS, that form I 130 was approved.

June 29th: my online status has changed to new card is being produced.

July 3rd: received official GC approval letter from USCIS.

July 11th: 10 years GC in hand!!!

This journey was super hard and long, but it's done and all of you will be done sooner or later. Keep all your documents, bills, take photos with family and be real. Through these 2,5 years I've contacted USCIS and my lawyer numerous times to get some info about my case, but they were useless, everything I knew is because of this forum, so let's keep sharing our experience and help each other!
