B2 visa approved
Hey guys,

First, i would like to thank immihelp for useful tips for applying US visa. We wouldn't have made it without immihelp. We couldn't thank enough!!

I'm from Malaysia and I applied B2 visa along with my father and got approved. So i thought it would be useful if I would share our experience with you guys.

Before going to the interview i was so stressed over the fact that i as a student will get rejected for tourist visa due to not having strong ties to my country other than study. i tried my best to be hopeful and as genuine as possible as ive never ever thought of living there permanently and would never ever live there. I just wanna travel there for pleasure, that is all. It's been my dream travelling to US.

i didn't worry about my father's interview tho because he's been working for 40+ years in his company and he also owns 2 house properties in Malaysia and with his wife (my mother) staying in home country because she's not comfortable with long flights. Therefore i thought he should have strong ties.

My profile:
1st year student stuying bachelor degree in a local university
23 years old
unmarried
having 2 sisters studying in the university back in home country (i was not sure if this would increase my chance of getting the visa).

It literally scared the hell outta me when i saw a lot of people getting rejected. My heart sank everytime when i heard words like "unfortunately, sorry".

When we were called, i took a deep breath and tried my best to be calm and confident, and finally started walking towards the counter.

So here's how the interview went:

Us: good morning sir!
Vo: good morning! may i have your passport please?

Us: sure here you are.
Vo: *typing*

Vo: *pointing at me and asking my father* is this your son?
Father: yes

Vo: so why are you travelling to the US?
Us: for tourism

Vo: *to us*your old passport please.
Us: alright.
Vo: *flipping my old and new passport while looking at me* have you travelled outside Malaysia?
Me: yes, ive been to japan, china, singapore and thailand.
Vo: which part of japan have you been to?
Me: Tokyo.
Vo: *flipping father's old and new passport while looking at my father* what about you? have you travelled to UK, Europe, or Australia?
Father: Australia yeah, but that was a long time ago.
Vo: *keeps flipping passport* but i dont see any Australia stamp?
Father: *about to explain but got cut off*
Vo: alright, nevermind. I got it. *passed our old passport back*

Vo: *to father* whats your job?
Father: company director of xxx company.
Vo: how many employees do you have?
Father: 50+ employees

Vo:*To me* what about you? whats your job?
Me: I'm a student.

He then didnt ask any further like which year i am in etc.

Vo: which part of US are you going to?
Us: california.

Vo: how long are you going to stay in the US?
Us: 11 days.

Then he asked us to get our fingerprints scanned.

After like few seconds typing on the computer, and finally we heard the golden words: "your visas are approved, you may collect your passport within 4 working days. Good luck!"

It was a sudden relieve. I almost couldn't believe what I just heard.

He had never looked at or checked our documents, not even once. Just asked us a few simple questions and that was it.

We smiled and said thank you very much sir and we left. I really couldn't describe how happy i was!!
