I-485 Timeline
I found some information on this site helpful when I was going through my change of status process, so I thought I'd share my timeline in case others find it helpful.

Previous status was H-1B. We did a confidential marriage and at the time of initial filing, we were only able to include several years' worth of pictures with the filing (no lease, no shared accounts, no other documentation). I've skipped some dates in the timeline that did not pertain to actual changes in the status.

8/7/18 - Date of Marriage
9/10/18 - USCIS received I-485, I-131 and I-765
9/21/18 - Received biometrics appointment notice
10/5/18 - Biometrics completed
2/6/19 - Submitted "outside processing time"
2/8/19 - Online status for I-765 changed to "New Card is Being Produced." No change in I-485 status
2/11/19 - Received combo EAD/AP card
4/10/19 - I-485 status changed to "we are ready to schedule your interview"
5/10/19 - Received notice of interview
6/11/19 - Interviewed in Los Angeles. Approved after interview.
6/19/19 - Received green card.

During the interview, we submitted copies of a joint money market account (we've decided to keep our checking/savings account separate for now), printouts of text messages and emails, copies of car and home insurance policies, printouts of 401-K showing the other as the beneficiary and printouts of daily USPS informed delivery. The interviewer did not look at those documents at all but just put them in our file folder.

I was worried that the confidential marriage would be an issue, but it was not at all. I have to clarify that we had been together for over 6 years, including 1 year living together, and our pictures submitted with the original filing showed that (e.g., family pictures at Christmas in front of the Christmas tree showing babies growing up year after year). I have never met her family (they are overseas) so we did not have pictures with her family, only with mine. Also, we truthfully answered that neither of our families knew about our confidential marriage, but that we were planning a public reception next year.

The interviewer asked my spouse more questions than he did me (where we celebrated my last birthday, who planned it, what she did for a living, what her favorite date of ours was, etc.).

My case might not be representative of other cases, but hopefully it would be instructive to others who are in similar situations (particularly with respect to the fact that getting married confidentially does not necessarily result in a rejection).
