Backlog in Green Card Production?
How long would it take to receive your green card in mail after I-485 approval? Did anyone wait for more than 3 weeks? If so, what would be your advise at this point?
I got I-485 approval July 16th. The notice said that I should receive my green card in 3 weeks. Since it has been more than 3 weeks, I called the USCIS and was told that the card is not in production yet and there could be a back log at the manufacturer. I also asked if I could get a temporary green card stamp on my passport but I was told they would do it only for emergency cases, such as losing employment or travelling outside of US.
Here is my timeline for your reference (employment based application in Chicago):
11/23 I-140 Approved
06/04 Interview Scheduled
07/10 Interview - Received Case under Review
07/16 I-485 Approved
07/20 Received I797 Notice in mail
