SAME SEX MARRIAGE: ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS---MARRIAGE BASED
Hello Everyone,

I've been following and reading through this forum and has helped me a lot and had given me peace of mind. I also noticed that there's not much information or details posted for the LGBT OR SAME SEX MARRIAGE (SO HOPEFULLY THIS HELPS). My very first advice for everyone is to be patient and always have your phone handy and/or check your email all the time.

My wife arrived in the USA on January 2018 with a tourist visa. Her return flight was on July 2019-- one thing led to another, we spontaneously got married on 07/19/2018. So the ADJUSTMENT STATUS journey begins...

PREPARATION FOR INTERVIEW:

I RECOMMEND TO HAVE A FOLDER WITH TABS FOR EACH DOCUMENTS AND HIGHLIGHT YOUR NAME AND YOUR SPOUSE'S NAME ON THE DOCUMENT SO THE OFFICER CAN IMMEDIATELY SEE IT.

COPIES OF THE APPLICATIONS SENT
ORIGINAL COPY AND PHOTOCOPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE
ORIGINAL COPY AND PHOTOCOPY OF MARRIAGE LICENSE
ORIGINAL COPY AND PHOTOCOPY OF JOINT ACCOUNTS ( SHOWING BOTH NAMES/BENEFICIARY ON HEALTH INSURANCE, 401K, DENTAL INSURANCE, CHECKING ACCTS, ETC.) (we even printed out our Disney passes and documents for joint documents)
PHOTO ALBUM (MOSTLY PICS OF YOU AND HER WITH FAMILY OR FRIENDS)

BRING YOUR EAD CARD AND PASSPORTS, MAKE COPIES OF BOTH
BRING MEDICAL EXAM I-693 IF YOU DIDNT SEND ON YOUR PETITION DATE

WE FILED THE DOCUMENTS BY OURSELVES, WE DIDNT GET A LAWYER OR A PREPARER.

DAY OF THE INTERVIEW:

WE WERE SCHEDULED AT 12:45PM AT THE LOS ANGELES OFFICE

WE ARRIVED AT 10:45 (WE ANTICIPATED TRAFFIC AND MASSIVE LINE CHECKING IN) AMAZINGLY EVERYTHING WAS SMOOTH, NO LINE AND JUST A LITTLE TRAFFIC.
DRESS PROFESSIONALLY PLEASE, I SAW SOME PEOPLE ON SLIPPERS AND SHORTS...SEEMED INAPPROPRIATE.

MAKE SURE TO GO IN 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR INTERVIEW TIME, THERE IS A CAFETERIA IN THE 2ND FLOOR IF YOU GUYS WANT TO HANGOUT TIL 30 MINUTES TIL YOUR INTERVIEW.

RELAX AND JUST PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR NAME BEING CALLED. WE HAD AN HOUR DELAY ON OUR INTERVIEW, WE DIDN'T GET TO BE CALLED UNTIL 2:10PM. AROUND 1:15PM THE OFFICER CALLED US AND SAID THEY ARE RUNNING LATE AND THEY ASKED IF WE SHOULD TAKE LUNCH FIRST THEN COME BACK 1:40PM.

During the interview the officer had us sworn and pretty asked questions about our marriage, he asked about how we met, when did we get married, where do we live, asking of how long have we known each other etc.

After the interview, he told us that he is going to approve our application and we should be expecting the card in the mail, he also gave us the approval letter on hand.

The next day we got a text and email showing the approval. then three days later, we got an email showing that the card has been mailed.

I'LL UPDATE ONCE WE HAVE THE CARD ON HAND.

THANKS FOR READING AND GOOD LUCK!
