H1B Interview in Vancover
I usually go to India for Stamping, but due to work emergency, I had to get mine done in Vancouver. It's challenging to find dates, so to someone trying to find one - be persistent (keep checking / have someone check for you).

Date of Interview: 8/12

Day of interview:

- Show up 30 min before the time allocated, and line your self in the initial document check line

(Please, do not bring Bag packs or big bags. They will not let them inside. Cell phones are fine, but if you can leave them with someone or in your car- please do so. If not, you will be provided with a small locker to hold your cell phone and smartwatch.)

- Showed up and stood in line, went through document check, and depositing my phone and watch in a box.
- your first stop is a security check - nothing out of the normal
- your first counter is a document check counter, and they enter, check your i797 and photo ( I honestly don't know why they need the photo, they didn't use it)

- your second counter is a fingerprint check then you are made to wait for the elevator and security personnel to escort you to 20th floor.

- there you are made to wait for an interviewer

- When it came to the interview

    interviewer - documents
     me - here you go

  interviewer- Where do you work
  me - xyz company

interviewer - what do you do
 me - xxx role

Whats your highest educational degree
me - MBA
interviewer - From where
me - xyz university, ( was about to pull out the degree)
interviewer- not needed

interviewer- what do you do in your role
me - blah blah blah .. for 5 seconds

next came in a very weird and incomplete question.
Interviewer - Do you think you are paid competitively?

me internally ( wtf does competitive mean, competitive to who? Should I tell him my pay or should I actively hold him in company pay conversation. In Bay area 300 - 500k is competitive-Fuckit!! ).

me: YES (very confidently :))

interviewer: your visa is approved, here are your other rights etc.

Me: Thank you.

But I am looking at the interviewer who took my 1-797 with my passport. I wanted to ask him why- but moved on.

Folks on this forum: are they taking your I797 with your passport. If so, are they giving it back?
