New York timeline and experience
Today my journey to citizenship came to an end- I wanted to share my timeline and experience:

Application received- 7/22/18
Biometrics scheduled- 7/27/18
Biometrics reviewed- 8/13/18
Interview scheduled 6/18/19
Interview- 7/24/19
Application approved- 7/24/19
Oath scheduled 7/25/19
Oath ceremony 8/16/19

Over all the process took a bit over year - applying on base of 5 years.
I know it is a long time to wait- and in the first couple of months i used to log in every day hoping to see interview scheduled- I know it wont help to say let it go as anxiety over the process gets the best of you - but at some point i just put the thoughts about it aside and waited for an update.

On the day of the interview I arrived about 30 minutes before the interview time- I waited for about 1:30- 2 hours before I was called in. People who came after me were seen before me- and so I figured they are not calling you by order of arrival.

My best guess without knowing for sure is that you are assigned an officer before or when you check in and then it depended on how long it takes him/ her to get to your number.

The Officer that greeted me could not have been nicer. He took my green card and passport, took a photocopy of these, and after saying an oath the interview started.

he explained right at the beginning that all the information is on the screen in front of him and so he is going to be focused on the screen and not to think too much about it.

We did the writing test, reading test and the 6 questions, then went over the n400 form.
The officer was extremely nice, very approachable and knowledgeable , we had a chat about where I come from and he told me about his experience meeting people from different nationalities.

Interview took about 40 min- he told me i passed and said it can take up to 30-60 Days to receive Oath schedule.

A day later I received a notice of oath at Federal Plaza.

Few personal observations from reading many posts here for the past year or so:

The process is long- maybe longer then we want it to be in some areas of the country. It may be difficult to look beyond our immediate and personal case and remember the huge number of applicants that has to go through this process. Even though the application today is online- my entire file from the day i arrived to the US 13 years ago that he had on his desk was printed - and so i think its good to remember that the system is not fully digital yet- and so there is ALOT of paper going around- it takes time.

There is really no point in getting frustrated if your case is still within the timeframe listed on the site.
Mine was supposed to end in May and like manny here i received the note that it is taking longer to process. At the end of the day- we are talking about hard working dedicated people who I suppose doing their best and from what i witnessed doing it with courtesy and patience- so yes the process is long but its not anything you cant handle especially waiting for so many years to even start it.

The Oath ceremony was great and an emotional moment which i am sure most if not all of you will experience first hand in the next few months.

I will check this forum in the next few days if there are any questions that i can help with answers and then signing out as this chapter came to an end.
