Adjustment of Status Timeline
Thank you to all the people who contribute to this forum and give support to the other filers! Here is my timeline for anyone who is interested:
Dec 22, 2018: Married to my US citizen wife who I met in college 4 years earlier.
Jan 22,2019: Concurrent filing of Adjustment of status (I-485), Petition To Register Alien Relative (I-130), & Employment Authorization Document (I-765) received by Chicago USCIS office
Feb 10, 2019: I-797 notice for Biometrics appointment in USCIS office in Norfolk, VA
Feb 19,2019: Biometric appointment at USCIS office in Norfolk,VA. The appointment lasted 5 mins. Just had to take fingerprints and scan retina.
July 9,2019: Interview scheduled for USCIS office in Norfolk, VA
August 15, 2019: Arrived for Interview 15 mins early. Got checked in smoothly and were called by our interviewing officer about 20 mins after our slated time. Interview lasted 15 mins and focused 99% on verifying the information we submitted on the forms. Officer asked 3-5 questions about how and when we met, and where and when we got married. Shortly after we received a paper saying the case would need further review but they did not need any extra information. Case would be decided in 120 days maximum.
August 15th, 2019 10pm: Logged into USCIS check case status portal to see that case had been approved and is in production.
August 22nd, 2019: Card in hand!
Got the process done in 7 months, which is incredibly short—though it felt like an eternity! Stick in there :)))). It will work out.
