GREEN CARD INTERVIEW I-485
Just went in for my green card interview!

Arrived there 30 mins before our appointment. There were about 4 other couples there.

NOTE 1: There was this one 'couple', I use the quote marks only because the wife was not present. The husband was there with his lawyer. Before they go in, the IO asks where the wife is, the lawyer said she's not available for that day, but that they sent a notification regarding this. They were asked to wait in the waiting room for a while. After a while, a different officer comes out and tells them per protocol, this was considered "No show" because the spouse was not present. The lawyer and the officer kinda bantered back and forth, but bottom line, no interview happened for them that day. MAKE SURE YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE ARE AVAILABLE!!

NOTE 2: Another AOS applicant was late for their appointment. They were given the option to A) Wait until the interviewing officer assigned to them gets free time within the day. It was 8:30am at the time, they were advised they might have to wait 4 hours. B) They could reschedule their appointment. BETTER AN HOUR EARLY, THAN A MINUTE LATE.

INTERVIEW:

First part - Before we were seated we had to take an oath to tell the truth. And then the IO then went through some basic questions in the I-485 like what's the name of your spouse, birthday, his parents, his address, his workplace. She then asked the YES/NO questions in the form.

Second part - Very casual interview about our relationship. Some of the questions asked were: Where did you meet? When did it start to become romantic? When did you start dating? When did you start thinking of getting married? What was your wedding day like? Did both your families attend? Etc.

Third part - She asked if we had any additional evidence of our relationship that we want to submit. I submitted a photo album with captions, she made copies of some wedding cards we got, our wedding invites, evidence of cohabitation, financial comingling, travel itineraries, social media presence, affidavits of support, insurance and retirement documents, etc.

She then said that she was going to approve us, made us sign a paper about filing I-751. She said they can produce the card as fast as 4 days, but they say1 month just to be safe haha.
