Interview Experience:
We entered the building 15 minutes early with our lawyer. Our lawyer checked us in and we went upstairs to wait for our appointment. We were called right on time at 11:30am. The officer greeted us with a smile and we went in.

We began by taking the oath, then proceeded to go over basic I-485 questions such as our names, address, birthdays, and our wedding date.

She then asked for originals of our marriage certificate, our passports and my birth certificate. After seeing the originals, she asked if we had any other documents that we wanted to submit to support our relationship. We are a young couple in our early-mid 20s so we don't have a lease together. We brought the following:
- Geico joint insurance
- AAA joint membership
- AT&T joint bill
- Joint bank account statement from May-Present (we opened it in May)
- 5 support statements confirming the validity of our relationship from different friends/family with copies of their IDs
- 200+ developed pictures with the dates and who is in it on the back of each picture (I separated all the pictures into 3 different piles: our wedding pictures, our most recent vacation to my city with my family, and then the rest of the 170 or so pictures throughout our 4 year relationship including family events, vacations, etc. I did this because I really wanted her to see our wedding pictures first and also pictures of my spouse with my family since I live here with my spouse's family and I'm with them all the time. She looked through the entirety of the first 2 piles and seemed really happy with the family pictures. Once she got to the big pile she looked through the first 10 or so and said she had seen some of these already and stopped. We felt that she was satisfied with the amount of pictures that were in the pile so she didn't take the time to look through more)
- Expedia itineraries from trips visiting each other, anniversary trips to Disney World, family vacations, etc.
- Joint dental insurance
- Cards to each other on Christmas, birthdays, random notes to each other. Also cards from my in-laws to me for various occasions
- Mail to me at our marital address (junk mail, personal bank account mail, college mail, etc)
- Gym agreements showing that we go to the same gym and signed up together at the same date
- We also brought scrapbooks that we made in 2015-2016 but we didn't end up showing her because again we felt she was satisfied

She took all of the documents happily and asked me to name everyone in a group picture of everyone at our wedding. She also asked how the two of us met (which was just simply through a mutual friend - she didn't ask any further questions!)

The last question she asked was what dates I entered the country was. I was going to list all of the dates I returned after getting my AP so I started saying July, but she was reading my passport and was only expecting me to say the most recent one which is in September. I also accidentally said 2018. My lawyer quickly caught that and I corrected myself to say September of 2019. The officer was nice about it and moved on.

Then we did the yes/no questions. She also asked where I work and I told her I just started a job so she wrote down the employer's name. I asked if she would like to see my hiring papers and she said that she doesn't need to.

The last questions she asked was the same I-485 names, birthdays, etc questions again. I guess this was to make sure that we got them correct twice in a row.

At the end she said she was going to photocopy my passport. She left the room and returned saying everything looks good and we can expect to hear a result in 4-6 weeks with a smile. We did not get any paper of any kind that says a decision was needed like people mention on here. We were kind of bummed there wasn't an on the spot approval, but we left the room feeling positive that it went well!

11 hours later on the same day of the interview I checked the case status to see CARD IS BEING PRODUCED!! The amount of relief we felt was incredible. A week later, I had the card in my hand! It is a 2 year card as I am a conditional resident due to being married under 2 years.

I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who shared their experience on here. It helped me get a feel for what to expect throughout the whole thing. If you have any questions, be sure to let me know!
