EAD (WorkPermit)

Hi all - I've been a silent reader for nearly five months while waiting for my EAD to process. Your experiences and advice have been so helpful in getting me through what we all know is a stressful process. Hope my timeline provides some insight/hope:

-May 15, receipt date for I-765. Sent to Nebraska service centre
-June 21, Biometrics
...Summer spent waiting. No news...
-Week of Sept 15, we were getting anxious. Lawyer called service centre. We were told to just wait.
-Sept 20, status change, our 1-485's were transferred to a new office. My 1-765 remained in Nebraska. Lawyer informed us that they are likely transferring to a local office so they can eventually schedule the interview. I got excited because I figured it meant that someone had looked at our file, so maybe that meant the EAD would be reviewed? This is the same day they pushed back processing times again, which was discouraging.
-Sept 23, my case was updated to show that a new card was in processing!!! What a feeling!

I just want to commiserate with everyone and say: what a stressful thing to go through! The system is so complicated and so opaque... and not being able to check on your case until it falls outside of normal processing time - which is nearing 6 months or more plus we'd been already waited for years before that - it's really tough! It's why we're all on this forum. Because we can't get answers or information anywhere else!
