August 13 2019 Interview is scheduled.
We had our interview at 26 Federal Plaza on Monday September 23.
We applied from Manhattan but were transferred to Queens office. Checked in on 9 floor, were sent to 4 floor. Waiting room was pretty crowded, a lot couples with lawyers and with kids. We got there at 12.15, were called in around 1.45. Saw couple who just checked in and were calling almost right away- guys next to us said bc they had a lawyer. I’m not sure if that’s true bc was other couples with lawyers who’ve been waiting and waiting.. maybe depends on lawyers.. Interview last maximum 15-20 minutes: oaths, fingerprints, both IDs, birth certificates ( my birth certificate was translated and notified by my friend, no notarized) applicant’s passport.
Questions: how we met? My husband’s name, his parents names, if he has siblings, names. My name, Our address and where I was born. To both of us if we met each other relatives.
After yes/no questions from i-485. Sign it.
IO asked us to show joint documents
We had just a looot of everything, felt like crazy bc other people had small folders
She took only joint medical insurance, letters on my name, on my husband’s name, lease, letter from our management company, joint account statement for last month, my personal account statement for one month as well. Asked a lot of questions: if we both are using our join account, what we’re usually buying when using joint account. what we’re buying from personal accounts, how many accounts both of us have and at what banks, if we have credit cards..
after we’re asked to show most recent pictures( we had 2 albums: wedding and an other one with like 150 pictures) - while going through wedding album IO asked how many people attended to wedding, where was wedding and if our relatives were at. We explained why not. From most recent pictures IO pointed on my mom, we had breathily conversation about her and my father.. After she told us we’re free to go and she’ll recommend our case for approval, we’ll here from them in 30 days. We didn’t sign any papers, didn’t get white paper as well.
Not on the app, not on my account status didn’t change all day long, I never got status: interview completed. Early next morning on the app status changed to card being produced. On the account status change only 2 days later. On third day card was picked up by post office and sent on 4th. Also on the account status changed on the 3 day: i-130 and i-485 were approved on the next day after interview. Card was delivered on Saturday September 28. And also that’s 10 years GC bc our 2 years anniversary was 2 weeks before the interview.
If anyone has any questions- would be happy to answer.
Good luck to everyone and wish you smooth interviews and get your GC soon
