My B1/B2 visa interview - Mumbai Consulate
Hi,
I had my first US Visa interview on 30th Sep 2019. Please find my profile and the interview details below:

Profile:
Age: 26 years, unmarried
Occupation: Investment Banker
Salary: ~INR1,15,000 per month
Country of residence: India
Abroad travel history: None

Interview details: The interview lasted for hardly 2-3 mins. The VO didn't ask for any documents. My purpose of visit was tourism and to visit my brother staying in the US (on L1 visa), intended duration of stay - 2 weeks.

Q1: Why do you want to visit USA?
Me: I want to celebrate Christmas and new year in the USA this year, along with my brother who has been staying in Atlanta for 1 year. I want to visit places like Orlando, Las Vegas and Miami.

Q2: How much do you earn?
Me: Told my annual salary. Tried showing my salary ships, but the VO moved on to the next question.

Q3: Are you married?
Me: No

Q4: Have you traveled anywhere abroad before?
Me: No.

VO: Sorry you aren't eligible for an non-immigrant visa. Please try again.

He handed over the 214(b) letter to me which states that I wasn't able to prove strong ties to India.

The VO didn't ask me any question asking about my job duration, family background, or my intentions to come back to India. I had carried my leave approval letter and other documents (ITR, bank statements, invitation letter from my brother, etc) to support my application, but the VO didn't ask for anything.

I want to reapply for the visa next month again. What do you think went wrong and what will improve my chances of visa approval? Will flight reservations (return tickets) help strengthen the case?
