Interview NYC Federal Plaza
hi y'all i have some good news

When we received the interview notice (40 days prior to the interview). Per the receipt notice proof of bonafide marriage is required. I was in a panic mood; all our assets and liabilities are under my name (USC). Although what is his is mine. We did not have any paper proof. So, I got together the minimum proof I had such as, our joint bank statement, our health insurance and our 2018 taxes (again panic since most couples had bills, rent/mortgage, retirement, etc. all share) we didn’t have much! I did go prepared with a sob story – my husband got his EDA card six/eight months after our marriage hence, I was the only one working – we could not afford high premiums to get new quotes (most of our staff are grandfather in).so, I preparer a binder with the stuff I thought were applicable:
1. Copy of the already submitted I-485 (including but not limited to our marriage certificate, older taxes, birth certificate, copy of USC proof)
2. Our updated taxes (2017 + 2018)
3. Our Joint bank statements
4. A huge photo album
5. My pay stubs and a letter from my employer
Anyhow, we went to the Federal Building about 1 hour before our appointment. The security guard (although he was doing his job) was extremely rude and annoying. He rudely yelled, “NO FOOD” was allowed apparently there was a huge sign that said no food or drinks. Granted most of us walking into that room (suite 700) are extremely nervous about the interview that we are not paying attention to our surroundings. To continue he asked for the interview notice, I show it to him and his again, rudely said, you are too early, therefore, we could not sign in. so, he suggests we go to the six-floor and stay at their café until it was time. So, we did that. About ½ hr. before our interview, we went back up stairs and checked in. the ladies at the window were extremely nice and welcoming. We set and set and set. We waited about 45 after our scheduled interview then I went back to the window to see if we missed our number/call. Turn out we were next so, about 5 minutes later the officer called us in. we walk to door two and into his office. From there it was like a comedy show. So, easy! We felt like we were in a safe and comfortable environment instead of a harsh Federal investigation. About 1 ½ after we were called in my husband walked out with a conditional green card. We are waiting for the GC to arrive. Hoping at the end of this week. If any of you especially NYC have any questions, please let me know I will do my best to help you sort out of this misery.
