Solution:F-1/STEM-OPT Terminated despite my H1-B being a Consular Notification Approval
My STEM-OPT EAD was valid till May 31st,2020 . My H1-B was approved on Sept, 17 2019 as a consular notification for Vancouver,BC, however, my SEVIS account got updated on Oct 2nd,2019 which 'completed/terminated my STEM-OPT EAD prematurely. This was definitely a mistake by SEVP as they might have thought that I had a change of status H1-B approval.

If you're in this situation, just be calm.

I reached out to my DSO and sent her my H1-B approval notice and she cut a ticket to SEVIs to reinstate my F-1 status and ny STEM-OPT EAD on Oct 5th.

In the meantime, I called SEVIS directly and they admitted that it was a mistake amd they gave me a reference number and an email asking me to continue maintaining my F-1 status. I forwarded this email to my attorney and my employer too

Finally after 2 weeks my SEVP account was updated again and my EAD validity reinstated with the expiry date of 5/31/2020

Am now happy as I now have time to go for the H1-B stamping at my convenience
