First time H1 stamping (L1B to H1B conversion)
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to update about my experience in Canada Toronto. I was on L1b and my wife was on L2visa and we both for same company (a renowned MNC). We both got selected in H1B lottery last year and went to Toronto this week for first time H1B stamping as we both were switching visa types.

Although we both had separate individual applications, we were asked similar questions by VO like
1.what is your highest qualification,
2. what do you do,
3. which company do you work for,
4. what is your client and
5. what is your salary.

Our interview lasted only for a couple of minutes and the VO said “Your visa is approved and I will cancel your old visa so that you can enter on H1b visa”. Our interview was on Tuesday and we got the email saying our passports are ready for pickup on Friday afternoon. We were initially a bit scared since Canada is not out home country and were thinking what if they tell us you need to go to home country for first time H1B stamping but our interview was very smooth, I think since our company is a renowned company, that might have helped and we have worked for this company for more than 6-7 years already. They had just kept our passports for stamping and had returned our I797 forms after verification

They didn’t ask my wife for LCA and company letter but they did ask me for those documents, so better to carry everything just in case they ask.
