I-485 Interview (Denver)
Hello Everyone,

Today we had our interview at the Denver location for I-485 marriage based Greencard im Canadian, was at 7:30AM, we had arrived at 7:00am, there was roughly 4 people ahead to travel thru security, i had read others before mentioning they were very rude, but not in our case they were so nice and polite. Security its self took maybe 5 minutes, take our shoes off, belt etc normal airport type.

Next we were told to get in elevator and go to level 2 ( no phone signs everywhere, so we didn't bother to even bring ours in to save the hassle ), which we were greeted again to double check we were on right floor/appointment and were told to have a seat this would probably be around 7:10am, sitting in the seat with my husband my hands clammy as could be, couldn't sit still every minute felt like 60. At about 7:29am they began calling names of families. 4 were called from different IO's before our name was called, i had nothing but time to count everything including the clock I was so anxious, and nervous not knowing what to expect.

Finally our name was called around 7:37AM which i was just a wreck it seemed mentally at that time for being called 7 mins after wishing i get the nice IO, a few calling names did look very grumpy! , walking up to the IO officer she had the nicest smile on her face and right then and there i KNEW i was gonna be ok. walked down this hallway past a few other offices and she introduced herself, and i had sat down right away and she asked if i could actually not sit down as we are going to take Oath, photo & fingerprint was right away. * and mentioned that a trainee IO was to sit in which i said yes everyone needs to learn / train *

Shortly after that was completed, i had my beautiful accordion style file folder, with label maker stickers for EVERYTHING! she was very impressed, and said since your more prepared than me can i have your sealed medical, whipped it out she opened and flipped to one page can't remember which one and said ok good, asked if i received my EAD/AP said no ( still crickets June 3rd for that ) and asked if i had social said no as well since i don't have EAD. she than looked at both my husband and myself and said I'm gonna ask both of your questions, (in my mind im thinking ok so we aren't gonna be separated which is great) looks at my husband and asks for my date of birth, my full legal name ( and any nick names he said babe lol ! ) and she joked and said oh me too for my husband, which at that moment i knew she was gonna be an easier interview than i have read from some. and where i was born, my husband said the wrong province and she's like come on think harder, finally he got it. she than asked for my parents names and my husband said my mothers name but said my step father instead of my biological so she asked no sorry what is his biological parents name, again he had a hard moment thinking of it. at that time i asked if i can answer the question she said yes, mentioned my fathers name and also stated we aren't on speaking terms/my husband hasn't met him. she totally understood and we moved on to me for questions,

at that time she asked maybe 1-3 questions on EACH of the 485 questions ** i was worried about one question about over staying my visa and hope it didn't come up which it DID! at the time i had not over stayed and put NO, but at the interview i stated that during the time of application i was still in visa, and now today im over stayed, she said its super common and not an issue at all! was super quick you'd almost assume my husband wasn't the American citizen, still at that time laughs / smiles were present. Than she asked if i had any supporting evidence to add, i said yes phone bills handed, bank statements, and my husband has a new job so i had took the liberty of making things easy got letters, 401k print outs, insurance print outs both life and health, again she said thanks for being so prepared. * new job wasn't on application at the time* she did not care since we had all to show what she needed, she combed over the bank statement to insure direct deposit was in our joint account. i said i have photos whipped out 70 or so photos, didn't even bother to look at them just said pick 6 please, gave her 6 of them she looked at our wedding group photo made a cute comment and moved on.

Really at that point she said i have everything i need, and you will be approved 3-4 weeks you should receive your green card in the mail, no white paper nothing just verbal with a smile. Time was 7:56AM less than 20 minutes interview was quick, easy, and painless after ALL of that anxiety, stress and feeling sick over NOTHING! * i should add that she forgot me to sign at the end of the interview and ask i was walking into my car i got a call on my cell phone i just declined it because i was in like a state of moment crying of happiness, again the same number called and i answered just in case. to find it was my IO saying she forgot to get me to sign, so she sent the trainee down outside of security to get me to sign the forms LOL! she apologized and said that usually never happens.

** if you have any questions i can answer them all! im just glad that is over (for now until i guess we remove conditions as we are under 2 year marriage still)** checked online status nothing has changed, but im not worried at all by how the interview went i will get my green card whenever its ready. !! Thanks for everyones help, advise, words of encouragement!
