Adjustment of Status Experience
Hello,

This forum has been helpful for me. Therefore, I want to share my case. I am married to a U.S. citizen and I filed from Chicago:

• I-130 submitted on 06/08/17
• I-130 approved on 12/27/17
• I-131 (parole in place for military/veteran spouse) submitted on 9/5/2018
• 1st biometrics appointment on 10/17/18
• I-131 (parole in place for military/veteran spouse) approved on 03/13/2019
• I-485 and I-765 submitted on 05/06/2019
• 2nd biometrics appointment on 05/29/19
• Status online changed to ‘Case if ready to be schedule for interview’ on 07/19/19
• Received interview noticed in the mail on 9/16/19 (status online did not change)
• I-175 approved on 9/09/19 and work permit received in about 5 days.
• I-485/Green card interview on 10/17/2019
• Green card received on 11/7/2019 (no updates online until my card was picked up by USPS).

I was very nervous at the interview but the officer was very nice. My spouse and attorney were with me. The interview lasted about 20 min. Officer asked me the information entered in the I-485 form (full name, spouse name, address, birthday, etc) and the yes and no questions. I answered yes to:

- I have worked unauthorized
- I entered the country without inspection
- I was denied a tourist visa before coming to the US.

Officer asked to see originals of some documents (marriage certificate, IDs, birth certificates, etc) Then officer asked if we wanted to provide more documents, we submitted updated bank statements, house deed, and copy of recent pictures and she looked at them and casually asked simple questions about them. Then officer said she could see in the system that the I-130 was approved but she didn’t have the files. She said she was going to request the I-130 documents from a different location and then give us an answer. I checked the status online every single day! On November 6th, the status changed to USPS picked up your card. Received the card and approval noticed 2 days after.
