I have been a long time reader and i am finally posting my entire immigration experience here
I came here on F1 visa in 2006
I was here on H1B from 2007-2014. I had my I-140 in EB2
in 2015 i moved back to India and then i came back in 2016 on L1 A visa.
Side note: I have 6 US visa stamps in my passports. 2 F1 stamps (both ivy leagues); 2 H1B stamps; 1 B1/B2 stamp; 1L1A stamp. I really didn't want to go back for another stamp anymore!!
2017 - I-140 approved on EB1 category
Oct 2018: Filed for AOS with PD of 2012 (because of old I-140 in EB2)
Jan 2019: Biometrics
July 2019: Received EAD+AP
Sep 2019: Received notice for interview. ID - Oct 15, 2019
Oct 15, 2019: Interview in Newark
interview experience: This was a weird one. The day we went for the interview, the systems were down and we were called in 2 hrs later than our scheduled time. The interview itself was very straight forward. The IO hardly asked about my employment but focused more on my family (wife and 2 kids). The IO said she was ready to make her decision and since the systems are down, she wasnt able to update it. She told us she will update it later on in the day and we should receive our cards within 2 weeks.
kicker: no status updates after a week, 2 weeks, 3weeks, 1 month. I finally grew tired and put in a request via the USCIS website. The IO officer forgot to update our case that day!!!!
Nov 10: request via uscis website
Nov 19: Status updated 'New card in production'
Nov 21: Your I 485 case has been approved and your approval is sent
Nov 22: Your Card is the mail
Hopefully we get the card before the thanksgiving holidays!
