Hello Everyone!
Just wanted to see if anyone had an experience being asked to prove that previous marriage is bonafide during an interview.

So, I was married before to another US citizen but it was a short marriage and we were only 21 years old. We dated right out of high school. And I came back for college with my F1 visa. He filed I-130 for me back then but we didn’t file for I-485 as we fall out of our relationship and I didn’t want to go through with the application knowing our relationship was going south. And I became out of status and we stop communicating for awhile as he just stop talking to me. I moved on with life and met my current husband while still married to him and my current husband knows about it. We finally got divorce in 2015. Me and my current husband dated for 5 years and decided to get married this year and finally applied for my adjustment of status.

I spoke to my lawyer about my old I-130 petition and he said since we didn’t follow through with it, it’s considered abandoned and I don’t have to worry about it. However, when I walked in for my interview, I was asked so many questions about my previous marriage rather than my current one and of course it’s been a long time and I don’t really remember most of the details. And now the officer gave me a white paper saying my application need to be reviewed further.

I’m just getting frustrated because I was just asked to show proof for my divorce hence why I wasn’t prepared to show the first one was a bonafide one.
