Help responding to a RFIE (marriage based I-485)
Hello everyone! I have a few questions related to the RFIE received on December 12th. I hope you guys will be able to help me to clear things out. So here we go:

Timeline
Field Office: New Orleans

Oct 14th - I-485/ I-130/ I-130A/ I-765/ I-131/ I-864/ I-864 (Joint Sponsor) forms submitted.
Nov 20th - Fingerprints taken
Dec 12th - RFIE received for I-864 (Petitioning Sponsor)

Long story short... My husband is a flight attendant but is not getting a paycheck since September due to a non paid leave offered by the Airline that he works for. Every year his company offers a 6/ 3 months leave, usually non paid. Although he’s not getting paid since September, he’s still an active employee of X Airline. He does have access to all portals and premises and were still authorized to use all the benefits including health and dental. His leave started on September and goes until February. Since we submitted our application in October, we were aware that he was not able to sponsor me, so we also submitted a form I-864 for the Joint Sponsor. For both I-864 we submitted tax transcripts, 1040’s from 2018/2017/2016, 6 months of paystubs for the Joint Sponsor and all the paystubs for my husband from January until August, employment verification letter from both employers, W-2 from 2018 for him and 2018/2017/2016 for the joint sponsor). Everything great until then. RFIE IS ON ITS WAY! 🙄 This is what the RFIE says:

“ The Petitioning Sponsor lists their current income on form I-864 as an amount to be considered sufficient. However, no evidence has been submitted as proof of income. Submit evidence of Petitioning Sponsor’s current income.

• Pay stubs or other documentation of pay for the previous 6 months.
• Evidence of other income such as Tax-Exempt Interest, Qualified dividends etc.

Letter of employment containing the following:

• Dates of employment;
• Nature of the Job;
• Yearly salary earned;
• Number of hours worked per week;
• Prospects for future employment and advancement.

The question that I cannot find the answer is:

WHY DO THEY NEED THE PETITIONING SPONSOR CURRENT INCOME EVIDENCE WHEN WE KNEW THAT MY HUSBAND, THE PETITIONING SPONSOR DID NOT QUALIFY TO BE MY ONLY SPONSOR, AND AFTER WE ALSO HAVE FILED ANOTHER I-864 FOR OUR BEST FRIEND BEING OUR ONLY JOINT SPONSOR?

We already know he doesn’t earn enough, reason why we submitted the joint sponsor’s I-864 along with my husband’s I-864. In the letter received (RFIE) it doesn’t say a word about the joint sponsor.

I would highly appreciate if someone here could give me a heads up or what I should do, since I cannot find any logic on why I got this RFIE.

Thanks a lot guys!
